Study Information
ARO-C3 is being developed for the treatment of kidney diseases caused by an over-active immune system (also called complement-mediated kidney disease). These types of kidney diseases are rare and are caused when a part of the immune system becomes overly active. As a result, the body initiates an inflammatory response that leads to kidney damage, resulting in protein in the urine (proteinuria) and lowered kidney function.
This study will investigate the effects of ARO-C3 in healthy participants (Part 1) and patients with C3 glomerulopathy and IgA nephropathy (Part 2). The purposes of Part 2 of this study are to:
- Evaluate how safe and well tolerated ARO-C3 is, following three doses in C3G and IgAN patients.
- Evaluate how much of the dose and how quickly ARO-C3 is absorbed into the blood, and then broken down or eliminated from the body (pharmacokinetics).
- Assess the effect of ARO-C3 on the body (pharmacodynamics) and immune system.
Study Candidtes

- Healthy males and females
- Aged 18 – 70 years
- Had a renal biopsy in the last 3 years that shows you have C3G or
- Had a renal biopsy in the last 5 years that shows you have IgAN
- Have ongoing disease which is stable or worsening
- Are currently not on dialysis
What is Involved?
- Overnight stay: 2 x 2 nights (4 nights total)
- Follow up: 12 follow-up visits
- Reimbursement: $6,000 (less tax)
