Study Information
About the Study:
New Zealand Clinical Research is trialling an investigational medication that is being developed as a potential new pain relief drug for sudden and long-lasting pain, including severe nerve pain.
EC5026 is designed to reduce inflammation and relieve pain, it is hoped that EC5026 will help to be an effective, long-lasting pain relief.
It is an investigational drug because it has not been approved by MedSafe or other drug regulatory authorities.
Why Participate?
By participating in this study, you are contributing valuable information in the advance of medical science, by supporting current and future patients.
Participation in this study will last up to approximately 8 weeks, including a screening, treatment, and follow-up period. The study requires a 9-night stay at the NZCR research unit and 4 scheduled clinic visits. If you wish to participate in this study, you will be booked in for a consultation with a study doctor and asked to sign the consent form if still interested, before any study assessments can be performed.
You will be reimbursed up to $6,000 NZD (before tax) for participating in this study.
If you decide to participate in the study and later feel that you no longer wish to be part of it, you can withdraw at any time. Any information that you provide will be kept strictly confidential as required by law.
You can be reassured that our experienced and qualified clinical staff will monitor your health throughout the study.
This study (2023 FULL 18787) is being funded by Eicosis and has been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committee.
Study Candidates
Who can Participate?
- Be aged at least 18 years
- Are in good health
- Have a BMI (Body Mass Index) between 19.0 kg/m2 – 32.0 kg/m2
- Not currently taking any regular prescription medications for your health (e.g., anti-depressants)
What is Involved?
Study Visits: 9-night stay
Outpatient visits: 4 visits
Reimbursement: $6,000 (less tax)
